Techub News News: Multiple Ethereum core developers and community members are calling for a pause of the Glamsterdam upgrade, warning that its planned gas fee changes could break a large number of smart contracts and cause user funds to be locked. At the heart of the dispute is EIP-8037 raising the gas cost of creating new storage entries and contracts, while many already-deployed contracts set fixed gas amounts or check the remaining gas of a transaction, and higher fees could cause calls to fail. Curve Finance's founder, Yearn core developer banteg, and a member of the Ethereum Foundation board have all publicly opposed the upgrade. Previously, core developers had already postponed Glamsterdam testing on the Hoodi testnet due to security risks. An influential community member initially called for activating the upgrade as soon as possible, but changed position hours later, acknowledging that the community had collectively failed on upgrade design, due diligence, and public communication, and that the problem is "more serious than commonly understood." Currently, core developers are under pressure to publish more data before Glamsterdam goes live on mainnet. Meanwhile, Ethereum ETF is experiencing its worst month of outflows since launch.
