Waymo Partners with Toyota to Deploy Self-Driving Taxis in Japan and the UK

Techub News reports that Waymo and Toyota have announced a partnership to deploy autonomous taxi services based on Toyota's bZ4X electric vehicles in Japan and the United Kingdom. According to the agreement announced on Friday, Toyota will manufacture the 2027 bZ4X models at its Japanese factory and integrate Waymo's autonomous driving system. These autonomous vehicles will first be tested in Japan and are planned to be deployed in right-hand drive countries such as the UK in the future. Waymo has been testing its autonomous Jaguar I-Pace vehicles in London for several months and plans to launch taxi services once necessary licenses are obtained. Toyota Executive Vice President Hiroki Nakajima stated that this cooperation will help scale the technology and bring it to customers in Japan and other regions through Waymo's ride-hailing services.
