Dubai Commercial Bank Joins Germany's CBMT Tokenized Deposit Project as the First Non-European Participating Bank

Techub News reports that Dubai Commercial Bank has announced its participation in Germany's CBMT tokenized deposit project, becoming the first participating bank from outside Europe. Dubai Commercial Bank will enter the CBMT Sandbox to test corporate cross-border payments, trade settlement, funds management, and working capital optimization along the Europe-Gulf corridor.

CBMT is driven by the German banking industry, with participants including Commerzbank, UniCredit, BNP Paribas, and ABN AMRO. Its core involves tokenizing commercial bank deposits for on-chain settlement, with related assets still accounted for on the balance sheet of the issuing bank, differing from stablecoins issued outside the banking system.
