Apple M4 iPad Pro Low Configuration Memory Chips Reach 12GB

Techub News reports that a teardown reveals some Apple M4 iPad Pro 8GB version motherboards actually have a total of 12GB of memory chips, but the system only makes 8GB available. The 8GB version uses two Micron memory packages, labeled as a total of 12GB; the 1TB version uses two 8GB packages, totaling 16GB, which matches the official specification. There is no conclusive evidence that the 4GB can be enabled or that Apple is deliberately restricting it. iPadOS 27 requires some Siri AI features to have an M4 or newer chip and at least 12GB of unified memory; the new iPad Air comes standard with 12GB, and the entry-level M5 iPad Pro has also increased to 12GB.
