Satlyt successfully tests satellite data processing software, can transform satellites into a space data center

Techub News reports that Satlyt has successfully tested software that can transform existing satellites into a data processing network. The company collaborated with the University of Houston to demonstrate on-orbit how their software allocates tasks among computers based on communication and available computing power in a NASA-funded research project. Satlyt's software is currently deployed on three in-orbit satellites, aiming to create software that connects multiple satellites to share computing tasks. Satlyt founder Rama Afullo, who previously worked at Google and SpaceX, founded the company in 2024 with the goal of turning spacecraft into virtual data centers. (TechCrunch)
