Factory Releases Droid 1.0 Coding Agent Framework Supporting Programmatic Tool Invocation

Techub News reported that Factory has released Droid 1.0, which is the biggest update to its coding agent framework. The main change is that the programmatic tool invocation feature is enabled by default, allowing the model to write programs to run its tools, driving hundreds of tool calls in a single model request. Droid 1.0 is a model-agnostic coding agent framework that includes prompts, tools, tool result return methods, and loop logic. Users can choose the model or let Factory Router select the most cost-effective combination. Programmatic tool invocation is implemented through script tools, with the model writing JavaScript that runs in a sandbox with no independent file, network, or system access. On Claude Opus 5.5, the script mode reduces costs for Droid by 15% compared to direct tool calls. This mode is enabled by default on 10 models including GPT-6.1 Sol and Kimi K3. (MarkTechPost)
