A single post has reignited the cryptocurrency market! With a wave of Elon Musk's "magic wand," Dogecoin's dream of reaching the moon has never felt closer to reality.
"The time has come," Elon Musk wrote in a post on November 4, referencing his April 2021 message that "SpaceX is going to put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon." This brief message quickly sparked heated discussions within the cryptocurrency community.
The DOGE-1 Moon mission originated from a Musk post in 2021, which caused the price of DOGE to surge nearly 30% within minutes. Following the online frenzy generated by the post, the SpaceX founder officially confirmed weeks later that the company would launch the "DOGE-1 Moon Mission" and accept Dogecoin as payment.
Developed by the Canadian company Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC), this mission is a CubeSat microsatellite project entirely paid for with Dogecoin. According to the plan, DOGE-1 will be launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
If successful, this will be the first space mission entirely funded by cryptocurrency. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has already granted a license for the mission. According to the authorization documents, this license will expire "two years after the launch of the DOGE-1 mission or on October 30, 2025."
Compared to the nearly 30% surge in Dogecoin's price following the 2021 post, the market reaction this time appears more rational. After the news broke, the price of DOGE only briefly rebounded from $0.172 to $0.178 before retreating due to overall market selling pressure.
This difference reflects the maturation of the cryptocurrency market. Investors are no longer blindly following the statements of influencers but are instead placing greater emphasis on the fundamental aspects and value support of projects.
The overall cryptocurrency market is currently under pressure, with Bitcoin falling below $106,000 and Ethereum losing the $3,600 level. The successful implementation of the DOGE-1 mission would transition Dogecoin from a "Meme" into a real-world commercial application scenario.
This CubeSat satellite will be used for Earth observation and IoT data transmission, meaning DOGE could genuinely participate in a tangible value loop in the physical world. Tom Ochinero, Vice President of Commercial Sales at SpaceX, once stated: "The DOGE-1 mission will demonstrate the application of cryptocurrency beyond Earth's orbit and lay the foundation for interstellar commerce."
Unlike the promise made in 2021, this mission has already passed technical reviews and has a complete mission流程. The launch window is set for December 2025, indicating that Musk is turning his "space rhetoric" from four years ago into reality.
The market is closely watching the launch plan for December. This mission is not only a technical test but also a significant attempt for cryptocurrency to find practical application scenarios in the real world.
