Techub News reported, according to CoinDesk, that the cryptocurrency political action committee Fairshake is investing $1.5 million in an advertising campaign aimed at preventing Texas Democratic Representative Al Green, who holds a critical stance towards the crypto industry, from winning the primary. This expenditure was pledged by Fairshake's affiliated entity Protect Progress. Al Green, for highlighting the potential risks of cryptocurrency and voting against crypto policy legislation, was given an "F" rating by the pro-crypto organization Stand With Crypto, while his opponent Christian Menefee received an "A" rating. The $1.5 million invested by Fairshake this time exceeds the more than $700,000 in campaign funds Al Green has raised so far. Currently, Fairshake has a reserve fund of $193 million and also announced this week that it will spend $5 million to support another pro-crypto Republican congressman, Barry Moore.
Techub News reported, according to The Block, the cryptocurrency political action committee Fairshake, backed by Coinbase, a16z, and Ripple, announced that it has reserved over $193 million for the November 2026 midterm elections. The funds include a $25 million donation from Coinbase in 2025, as well as recent donations of $25 million and $24 million from Ripple and a16z respectively. Fairshake stated that as the midterm elections approach, it will continue to oppose politicians with anti-crypto policies and support leaders who back the crypto industry.
Techub News, according to Bloomberg, Tether is considering establishing an entity in the United States and participating in political donations related to the 2026 U.S. elections. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that the company is dissatisfied with the crypto industry's major political action committee (PAC) Fairshake, claiming it ultimately "serves the interests of one specific company," but he declined to name the company. The largest single donor to Fairshake is Coinbase Global Inc., which, according to OpenSecrets, donated nearly $70 million to Fairshake during the 2024 election cycle. Coinbase is closely associated with the stablecoin USDC, the largest competitor to Tether's token USDT. Although USDC is issued by Circle Internet Group Inc., the two companies have a revenue-sharing agreement for the token. Ardoino said Tether is still negotiating with different PACs to consider their political strategies.
