Techub News reports that Aptos Labs, in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Hang Seng Bank, has released a white paper titled "Digital Currency: The Multiplicative Development Opportunity for Hong Kong's Fund Industry," summarizing the results of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's "e-HKD+" Phase 2 pilot. The white paper points out that digital currencies and tokenized assets are now mature enough to support institutional-grade financial applications. The next phase will focus on building an underlying infrastructure with interoperability, programmability, on-chain compliance capabilities, and institutional-grade standards, and promoting the large-scale adoption of scenarios such as tokenized funds. The market size for digital currencies and tokenized assets is projected to grow from approximately $0.6 trillion in 2025 to nearly $19 trillion by 2033.
Techub News, Aptos Labs and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) jointly released the "Hong Kong Digital Currency and Tokenized Asset Survey" report. The survey covered over 500 retail fund investors, with 61% of retail investors from Hong Kong, China and Mainland China indicating plans to more than double their allocation to tokenized fund investments. This is primarily driven by the higher liquidity, transparency, 24/7 trading, and programmability features offered by tokenization technology. Concurrently, the study further identified four typical investor segments: active traders in Hong Kong are expected to increase their allocation to tokenized funds from 10% to 26%, high-net-worth individuals from 5% to 16%, long-term investors from 8% to 25%, while Mainland Chinese investors plan to increase from 11% to 24%. The report also summarized the outcomes of the participation by Aptos Labs, BCG, and Hang Seng Bank in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's "e-HKD+" Phase 2 pilot. The pilot utilized Aptos (the only public chain participant in this project) as the underlying infrastructure, successfully validating key functionalities of digital currency in tokenized fund settlement, including instant atomic settlement, embedded compliance, and cross-border efficiency, further exploring novel commercial functions and investor application scenarios.
