Techub News reported, according to Bloomberg, U.S. prosecutors stated that SBF's request for a retrial should be dismissed as he failed to prove any injustice in the conviction. Previously, in a self-written court document submitted in February, SBF claimed that new witnesses could overturn the prosecution's charges of him defrauding FTX customers. He alleged that former FTX executives Daniel Chapsky and Ryan Salame, who did not testify during the trial, could refute the prosecution's narrative regarding the exchange's financial condition. In court documents filed on Wednesday evening, prosecutors pointed out that these two witnesses cannot be considered new because they were "fully known to the defense before the trial" and could have been subpoenaed to testify. "The defense's decision not to list the witnesses or compel their testimony precludes the claim that the 'post-trial opinions constitute newly discovered evidence.'" They also rebutted SBF's allegation that his case represented the "weaponization" of the Justice Department by the Biden administration, calling his argument inconsistent. "The defendant was one of the largest Democratic donors in 2020 and 2022, and his campaign finance crimes were committed to obtain these donations. Therefore, the claim that the former president's administration targeted him due to his Democratic political stance is baseless."
