The Central Bank of Brazil prohibits the use of cryptocurrencies for cross-border electronic foreign exchange payments.

Techub News, according to CryptoBriefing, the Central Bank of Brazil has issued a ban prohibiting cryptocurrencies (including stablecoins) from being used in regulated cross-border electronic foreign exchange payment systems. Service providers are required to switch to traditional foreign exchange transactions or non-resident Brazilian real accounts for settlement. This regulation will take effect on April 30, 2026.

The ban is part of Resolution No. 561, aimed at strengthening regulatory control over capital flows in response to the risks of illegal financial activities present in the country's cryptocurrency market. The resolution builds upon the previously established VASP licensing system, marking further tightening of regulatory oversight over stablecoin flows in the country.
