Sony establishes on-chain business strategy department, plans to set up investment fund to accelerate IP assetization of Soneium ecosystem

Techub News reported, according to NADA NEWS, Kodai Hatano, the head of the on-chain business for Sony's Ethereum L2 network Soneium, stated that Sony's blockchain business has officially transitioned from the experimental phase to the commercialization phase. The company has renamed the original "Advanced Infrastructure Business Exploration Department" to the "On-Chain Business Strategy Department," repositioning blockchain as a core strategic focus for the group.

Sony plans to prioritize the on-chain transformation of its core IPs, including music, animation, games, movies, and sports, this year, utilizing Soneium to build on-chain IP infrastructure. Additionally, Sony is preparing to establish a GP/LP-type investment fund to accelerate investment in applications and the entertainment sector within the Soneium ecosystem by introducing external capital. Currently, its incubation program SPARK has received over 2,000 applications, with 23 projects already receiving investment. The Sony ecosystem also aims to achieve seamless connectivity between fiat currency and digital assets through its exchange, S.BLOX.
