Techub News, Vitalik Buterin posted on the X platform stating that the DNS registrar for the Ethereum Name System (ENS) public gateway eth.limo has been attacked. As the attacker could potentially exploit control for phishing or hijacking, Vitalik advises users to temporarily avoid accessing vitalik.eth.limo or any other pages routed through eth.limo until official confirmation of restored security.
As an alternative, users can directly access relevant content through browsers supporting IPFS, or switch to other available gateways such as eth.link. The eth.limo team is currently conducting an emergency investigation and attempting to regain DNS control. This type of attack once again highlights the risk of centralized single points of failure at the access layer (DNS) for decentralized content.
