The Central Bank of Brazil includes cryptocurrency service providers in financial industry regulation.

Techub News, according to The Block, the Central Bank of Brazil has issued new regulations targeting virtual assets. Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) must obtain authorization from the central bank to operate, with requirements from the financial industry such as consumer protection, internal governance, anti-money laundering, and counter-terrorism financing applying concurrently. The new regulations take effect in February 2026. The rules also clarify that the buying and selling of stablecoins pegged to fiat currency, as well as the use of virtual assets for international payments or settlements, will be managed as foreign exchange transactions. The authorization processes for relevant foreign exchange and securities intermediaries will also be incorporated into a unified framework.
