The first meeting of the Subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Development of the Hong Kong Legislative Council was held.

Techub News reports that the Legislative Council of Hong Kong has established a Subcommittee on Matters Relating to the Development of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Technology, which held its first meeting today. Legislative Council member for the Election Committee constituency, Wu Jiezhuang, who has long been concerned with the development of cutting-edge technologies, was elected as the Chairman.

The Subcommittee on Matters Relating to the Development of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Technology will comprehensively review the economic benefits and growth potential brought by artificial intelligence and robotics technology to various sectors (including finance, healthcare, logistics, education, construction, and creative industries, etc.) in Hong Kong; delve into the specific impacts and substitution risks of technological applications on the local labor market structure and different types of jobs (from frontline operations to professional positions); examine whether current human resources policies, vocational education, and retraining mechanisms are sufficient to cope with industrial transformation; and actively provide opinions and suggestions on how to balance technological dividends with labor protection, promote the "human-machine collaboration" model, and improve talent pool development.
