Techub News reported, according to Caixin, Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive Eddie Yue said after the Financial Affairs Committee meeting today that a total of 36 institutions have submitted applications for stablecoin licenses, including banks, technology companies, securities firms, asset management companies, investment companies, e-commerce platforms, payment institutions, startups/web3 enterprises, etc. Among them, Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) is highly anticipated as it is one of Hong Kong's three note-issuing banks. Two other sources stated that JD Coin Chain Technology (Hong Kong), a subsidiary of JD.com which was previously rumored to have withdrawn from the competition for Hong Kong's first batch of stablecoin licenses, has not withdrawn its application. JD Coin Chain Technology (Hong Kong) is also one of the three major pilot entities in the stablecoin testing sandbox.
