The letter questions whether this relationship involves bribery or undue influence, and whether Tether has received preferential treatment under the GENIUS Act.
The letter notes that Lutnick sold his shares in Cantor Fitzgerald to his children in October 2025 to comply with federal ethics rules, and that Tether provided a loan to the trust the following day. Tether was fined $41 million by the CFTC in 2021 for misleading statements, and currently faces multiple regulatory investigations.
