Aptos Foundation updates tokenomics, introduces 2.1 billion APT hard cap and reduces staking rewards to 2.6%

Techub News reports, according to official Aptos news, the Aptos Foundation has released a tokenomics update, shifting from a "bootstrap subsidy" to a supply mechanism "linked to network utilization," aiming to achieve burns exceeding new issuance during high-throughput application expansion. The proposal includes reducing the annualized staking reward from 5.19% to 2.6% through governance, initially increasing the Gas fee by 10 times (Gas is paid in APT and fully burned); the Foundation's 210 million APT will be permanently locked and continuously staked. Future Grants will be changed to performance-triggered distributions linked to KPIs, and a programmatic buyback mechanism will be explored.
