Techub News reports, according to Crypto Briefing, that the U.S. Treasury Department recently seized nearly $500 million in Iran-linked cryptocurrency assets as part of "Operation Economic Fury." The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned multiple cryptocurrency wallets, including the freezing of $344 million in USDT. The operation aims to undermine Iran's economic capabilities, aligning with the Trump administration's "maximum pressure" strategy against Iran. USDT, a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Tether, is one of the largest stablecoins by market circulation in the cryptocurrency market and is widely used for trading and cross-border transfers. This asset freeze marks a significant escalation in the U.S. government's regulatory oversight of cryptocurrency assets and also reflects intensifying regulatory crackdowns on cryptocurrency assets linked to sanctioned countries amid geopolitical tensions.
