Techub News reported, according to Bloomberg, that FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried has formally filed a motion requesting a retrial of his current 25-year prison sentence. SBF stated that two former FTX executives, Daniel Chapsky and Ryan Salame, could serve as new witnesses to refute the prosecution's allegations that he defrauded exchange customers. He also requested the assignment of another judge to hear the motion, claiming that the original trial judge, Lewis Kaplan, showed "clear bias" against him.
The motion was drafted on February 5th and was officially filed in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday, submitted by SBF's mother, Barbara Fried, a retired Stanford University law professor. Currently, a three-judge appellate panel is hearing his overall appeal, and he believes that certain rulings during the trial stage affected the final sentencing outcome.
