GameStop plans to acquire eBay for $55.5 billion, with a $368 million Bitcoin holdings sparking speculation

Techub News, according to CoinDesk, video game retailer GameStop has proposed acquiring online marketplace eBay for $55.5 billion, planning to use $9.4 billion in cash and liquid investments and seeking up to $20 billion in financing, sparking speculation over whether its $368 million Bitcoin holdings will be sold to fund the deal.

The company's CEO previously described the expansion plan as "more attractive than Bitcoin" and reserved the option to sell cryptocurrency assets to fund the transaction. Last month, it transferred approximately 4,709 Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime for a covered call strategy, while stating it has the ability to complete the acquisition through issuing stock.
