Ethereum core developers agree to raise the gas limit by 3.3 times

Techub News reports, citing CryptoBriefing, that Ethereum core developers have agreed to increase the network's gas limit from the current 60 million to 200 million, in support of the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade. The decision aims to enhance the network's transaction processing capacity and reduce congestion, marking an important technical milestone in Ethereum's scalability roadmap.

The adjustment was agreed upon at the Arctic Soldøgn Interop conference held in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, with support from major client teams such as Geth and Nethermind. This strategic move will enable a parallel transaction processing mechanism. Although purely technical in nature, it is regarded as a key step in increasing Ethereum network capacity.
