American Express launches AI payment development tools and will explore stablecoin settlement application scenarios

This toolkit aims to support AI agents in conducting economic activities such as payments on behalf of users, while reducing the risks of fraud and disputes through mechanisms like only opening payment credentials to verified agents and authenticating cardholders.

Furthermore, American Express pointed out that it already has mature mechanisms for handling transaction disputes, which can provide safeguards for AI agent errors, thereby enhancing user trust and driving transaction volume growth. It also has "multiple plans" for stablecoins, with related plans potentially exploring stablecoin settlement scenarios rather than payments, but no specific details were disclosed.
