Saylor: Bitcoin reserve proof will expose sensitive security risks

Techub News reports, according to Cointelegraph, that Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor stated that Bitcoin reserve proofs would expose sensitive information, diluting the security of issuers, custodians, and investors. He said in May 2025 that the practice is "not a good idea," believing it would lower the overall security level.

Reserve proofs were widely adopted after the collapse of FTX in 2022, aiming to verify whether client assets are fully backed. Currently, major trading platforms such as Binance, Kraken, OKX, and others have published relevant disclosures, while Strategy, as the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, has not adopted this mechanism. Block recently released a reserve proof, verifying its holdings of 8,883 Bitcoins (worth approximately $681 million).
