Layer1 network BNB Chain warns post-quantum upgrade will significantly reduce throughput

Techub News, According to Cointelegraph, Layer 1 network BNB Chain has released a report stating that post-quantum cryptographic upgrades could increase transaction data size, thereby reducing network throughput by 40% to 50%. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is designed to defend against attacks from quantum computers, but the upgraded encryption algorithms typically require larger key and signature sizes, which increases the storage and transmission burden on the blockchain. As one of the major public chains, BNB Chain's technical assessment provides the industry with an important reference regarding the trade-off between quantum security and performance.
