Techub News reported that the New York Stock Exchange has submitted a rule amendment application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), proposing to add Rule 7.50 to support the trading of tokenized securities under the DTC three-year tokenization pilot framework. The proposal primarily targets Russell 1000 Index constituents and mainstream ETFs, requiring tokenized securities to share the same CUSIP number, trading symbol, and equivalent shareholder rights as traditional securities, and allowing both to be matched concurrently on the same order book.
This move follows Nasdaq's previously approved steps, aiming to leverage DLT technology to enhance efficiency while ensuring all existing regulatory rules, execution priority, short sale restrictions, and T+1 settlement standards remain applicable to tokenized assets. The NYSE emphasized that this framework does not require establishing a parallel market structure; all member institutions will trade directly under the existing market surveillance and risk management systems.
