The IMF stated that the Salvadoran government has agreed at the policy level to no longer actively increase its Bitcoin holdings and has been required to fully comply with this commitment by the end of 2025 at the latest. However, El Salvador's official Bitcoin Office still claims it is "purchasing one Bitcoin daily" and announced on December 22 that its holdings have increased to 7,509 Bitcoins.
