Techub News reports that Julia Leung, CEO of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, stated at the 2026 ASIFMA EU-Asia Financial Services Dialogue event that Hong Kong must comprehensively upgrade its market infrastructure, particularly in the fragmentation, clearing, and settlement of financial products, and that distributed ledger technology and tokenization development offer solutions. The core value of tokenization lies in its programmable nature, which can support a wide range of investment products such as bonds, funds, and even gold; as the tokenization ecosystem continues to expand, there is a need to effectively integrate related innovative projects, seamlessly combining the confidence of traditional finance with the efficiency of decentralized finance to further unlock liquidity. Leung also revealed that the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has co-led a working group under the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission to combat online scams, and is exchanging intelligence with global counterparts, participating in the formulation and coordination of standards in areas such as digital assets.
