Techub News reports, according to an announcement from the U.S. Secret Service, multiple international law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Secret Service, the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA), and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) of Canada have jointly launched an international law enforcement operation codenamed "Operation Atlantic." This operation aims to combat organized cryptocurrency fraud schemes, with a focus on identifying and assisting victims who have suffered asset losses or are at risk due to "approval phishing." "Approval phishing" is often associated with "pig butchering" investment scams, where criminals induce victims to grant full access to their crypto wallets, thereby transferring funds away. Participating agencies also include the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the City of London Police, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, and the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), with support from private sector partners. This operation builds on the successful experience of the 2024 "Project Atlas," utilizing cross-border collaboration to disrupt scams in real-time.
