CME Group plans to launch market-cap-weighted cryptocurrency futures on June 8

Techub News, according to AMBCrypto, CME Group plans to launch its first market-capitalization-weighted cryptocurrency futures contract on June 8, pending regulatory approval. The product will track a basket of digital assets weighted by market capitalization, offering both micro and large contract versions and settling in cash.

Unlike existing single-asset futures, this newly introduced index-based contract provides institutional investors with a more efficient way to achieve diversified allocation. CME stated that its average daily trading volume in cryptocurrency futures has increased by 43% so far this year, reflecting the growing demand from institutions to participate in digital assets through traditional financial infrastructure.
