Techub News reported, according to the "Financial Times", UK fintech startup Stratiphy will support UK investors in holding cryptocurrency exchange-traded notes (ETNs) through "Innovative Finance ISA" accounts. This move allows investors to allocate crypto assets within the tax-free allowance of £20,000 per fiscal year, exempt from capital gains tax. Currently, Stratiphy offers three ETN products issued by 21Shares, Europe's largest crypto ETP issuer, which track Bitcoin, Ethereum, and a combination of Bitcoin and gold, respectively.
It is worth noting that from April 6, 2026, the classification of crypto ETNs within Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) will change: such assets will no longer be eligible for the mainstream "Stocks and Shares ISA" and must be held through an "Innovative Finance ISA". Stratiphy, as one of the few platforms currently offering such a compliant pathway, currently manages approximately £4 million in assets. Previously, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) officially lifted the ban on retail investors purchasing crypto ETNs in October last year, marking the further proliferation of compliant crypto financial products in the UK retail market.
