Techub News reports that Microsoft researchers have published a paper in the journal Nature, stating that they have developed a new machine learning tool capable of making more accurate weather forecasts 2 to 6 weeks in advance in a more cost-effective manner. The tool is now open-sourced. The researchers said that traditional physics-based weather forecasts and even new AI models usually see reliability drop after two weeks, whereas the new method enables farmers and emergency responders to plan with greater certainty well in advance. Microsoft is collaborating with companies such as Google and NVIDIA to jointly develop AI tools for weather forecasting. (The Verge AI)
Techub News reports that OpenAI is accelerating the development of its next-generation flagship model, which uses the same recurrent Transformer technology as Astra to improve math and coding performance, but this technology makes safety monitoring more difficult. Microsoft once accidentally leaked operational details of this technology on a public page. Employees state that regardless of whether the flagship model is ready, OpenAI may release one to two new models before the end of the year. (The Decoder)
Techub News, according to Cointelegraph, Microsoft's investment in its partnership with OpenAI has exceeded $100 billion, based on testimony from Elon Musk's lawsuit. The figure was disclosed during the trial of Musk's legal dispute with OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman, revealing the financial scale of the long-term collaboration between Microsoft and the AI company. The partnership spans multiple areas, including cloud computing infrastructure and AI model development.
Techub News, according to Decrypt, Microsoft's Threat Intelligence unit stated that attackers inserted malicious code into a Mistral AI software package distributed via the PyPI platform, which can steal developer credentials and potentially compromise Linux systems. Mistral said there is no evidence that its infrastructure was compromised, and recommended isolating affected systems and replacing credentials. This attack is linked to the "Shai-Hulud" malware campaign, which has been targeting the software supply chain since September.
Techub News, according to The Information, OpenAI has reached an agreement with Microsoft to cap their revenue sharing at $38 billion, paving the way for OpenAI to form new partnerships with cloud service providers such as Amazon and Google. The agreement revises the previous exclusivity terms between the two parties, allowing OpenAI to seek diversified infrastructure support after reaching the revenue cap. This move marks a shift in OpenAI's cloud computing strategy, helping to reduce reliance on a single supplier.
Techub News reports that, according to TechCrunch, Microsoft is internally discussing whether to delay or scale back its target of achieving 100% hourly clean energy matching by 2030, as the rapid construction of AI data centers is putting pressure on that commitment. A company spokesperson said the company will continue to look for opportunities to maintain its annual matching target. The hourly matching target is stricter than the annual target, requiring energy supply and demand to be matched on a near real-time basis. As data centers expand in scale, the company announced last month a partnership with Chevron to build a natural gas power plant in Texas, raising questions about its clean energy commitments.
Techub News reported that on April 22, at the "Four-Dimensional Resonance" sub-forum of the 2026 Hong Kong Web3 Carnival, Web3Labs officially announced a collaboration with Injective and Microsoft to jointly launch the "Injective Nova Program." This innovative incubation initiative for developers, led by Web3Labs and leveraging the top-tier resources of Injective and Microsoft, aims to create a premier competition for developers across the entire industry. Web3Labs, Injective, and Microsoft are joining forces to broadly attract diverse AI innovation forces from the industry, including rising stars from universities, independent developers, and mature startup teams. In this collaboration, Injective provides high-performance financial public chain infrastructure, Microsoft leverages Azure cloud computing power and AI services to lower development barriers, and Web3Labs integrates industry resources such as capital and traffic to offer full-chain incubation support. The three parties aim to precisely incubate AI projects with industrial-grade potential through specialized support and resource subsidies, promoting the transition of AI and Web3 technologies from concept to implementation, and jointly building an open, trustworthy, and sustainable decentralized intelligent ecosystem.
