Techub News, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Securities and Futures Commission, the Insurance Authority, and the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, in collaboration with Hong Kong Cyberport, announced today the launch of the Generative AI (GenA.I.) Sandbox++. Building on the successful experience of the GenA.I. Sandbox launched in 2024, this initiative expands coverage to multiple financial sectors including banking, securities and capital markets, asset and wealth management, insurance, mandatory provident funds, and stored value facilities. It focuses on three key areas: risk management, anti-fraud, and customer experience, and advances the "A.I. vs. A.I." strategy to manage A.I. application risks. Participating institutions will receive targeted regulatory guidance, technical support, and free access to GPU computing resources at the Cyberport AI Supercomputing Centre. This allows them to develop and test industry-specific or cross-sector A.I. applications in a risk-controlled environment, such as intelligent customer chatbots, fraud detection systems, insurance underwriting and claims processes, and investment product suitability assessments.
Techub News reported, according to Wen Wei Po, Hong Kong's Cyberport launched the "Blockchain and Digital Asset Pilot Funding Scheme" in June this year, providing development funding support for high-impact blockchain and digital asset projects with benchmark potential. Li Yizheng, Director of Blockchain and Digital Assets at Cyberport, stated that the first phase of the scheme received over 200 applications, with 9 enterprises ultimately shortlisted. These cover 5 real-world asset tokenization (RWA) enterprises, 1 payment enterprise, 2 security enterprises, and 1 smart living enterprise. The total asset scale involved in the first pilot phase exceeds HK$120 million. Each eligible pilot project can receive up to 80% funding, with a maximum funding cap of HK$500,000 per project. Currently, nearly half of the pilot products have been successfully commercialized or are about to be launched. This includes using smart contracts to achieve on-chain automation for fund tokenization redemptions, reducing cross-border stablecoin payment settlement time from 2–3 days to within 5 seconds, and developing AML and risk control tools for visually tracking high-risk fund flows in terms of security and compliance. Cyberport stated that it will strive to launch a second phase of the pilot scheme in the future and continue to focus on areas such as RWA, stablecoin payments, Web3 security, and distributed AI to promote the development of the local digital asset and blockchain application ecosystem.
